French Apple Cake

~ I got this recipe from a publication named Cooks Country and made absolutely no changes to it.  ~I just wish that it did not require so many bowls, etc. to make but it is well worth the extra ~washing up and it goes really good with vanilla ice cream, Cool Whip or whipped cream.
